ANA with titre, ANA by ELISA
The Antinuclear Antibody (ANA) test is a blood test used to detect autoantibodies that target the body’s own cells. It is primarily used to diagnose autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Sjögren’s syndrome, and scleroderma. A positive ANA test indicates that the immune system is attacking healthy tissues, leading to chronic inflammation and autoimmune disorders.
A positive ANA result does not always confirm a disease but suggests the need for further testing. Some healthy individuals may have a low level of ANA without any autoimmune condition. A negative ANA test makes autoimmune diseases less likely. This test is usually recommended for individuals experiencing persistent joint pain, fatigue, skin rashes, muscle weakness, or other autoimmune-related symptoms.
