Immunoglobulin E (IgE) Level Test

The Immunoglobulin E (IgE) Level test measures the amount of IgE antibodies in the blood. IgE is primarily associated with allergic reactions and the body’s immune response to allergens, including pollen, dust, pet dander, certain foods, and insect stings. This test helps diagnose allergic conditions, asthma, and parasitic infections.

Elevated IgE levels are commonly seen in allergic rhinitis (hay fever), eczema, asthma, and food allergies. They may also indicate parasitic infections or certain immune disorders. However, normal IgE levels do not always rule out allergies, so additional allergy-specific tests may be required. This test is often recommended for individuals experiencing frequent allergic reactions, unexplained skin rashes, chronic respiratory issues, or suspected parasitic infections.
