The Inorganic Phosphorus (Phosphate) Test measures the level of phosphorus in the blood, a vital mineral essential for bone formation, energy production, and cell function. Phosphorus works closely with calcium to maintain strong bones and teeth and plays a role in nerve and muscle function.

Why is the Phosphorus Test Important?

• High phosphorus levels (Hyperphosphatemia) may indicate kidney disease, hyperparathyroidism, excessive vitamin D intake, or bone disorders.
• Low phosphorus levels (Hypophosphatemia) can result from malnutrition, vitamin D deficiency, alcohol abuse, or certain medications.
• Imbalances can lead to bone weakness, muscle cramps, fatigue, or irregular heartbeat.

When is the Test Recommended?
